Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Very Simple Signups, a coordination tool operated by Very Simple Signups LLC ("we", "us"). By creating an account, signing up to an event, or otherwise using the service at verysimplesignups.com (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service is

Very Simple Signups lets organizers create signup sheets for events, shifts, and tasks, and lets participants sign up for slots without creating an account. The Service is provided free of charge for individual organizers. Team workspaces are available for a monthly fee.

2. Who can use the Service

You must be at least 16 years old to create an organizer account. You must be at least 13 years old to sign up for an event as a participant. If you are signing up on behalf of a minor under 13, you confirm you are their parent or legal guardian.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. Your account

Organizer accounts are created with an email address. We use magic links instead of passwords. You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure. Anyone with access to your inbox can access your organizer account.

We may require email verification before sending further emails on your behalf. We may rate-limit new accounts during a probationary period.

Participants do not have accounts. When a participant signs up for an event, we store their name, email, and signup details, and we send them a magic link to manage their signup. Participants can request deletion of their data at any time using the link in any email we send them, or by contacting us.

4. Acceptable use

Your use of the Service is governed by our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Violations of the AUP are violations of these Terms.

5. Content you create

You retain all rights to the content you create on the Service, including event titles, descriptions, slot details, and any text you provide. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, and display your content solely for the purpose of operating the Service.

You confirm that the content you create does not infringe anyone's rights and complies with the AUP.

We do not allow uploaded images, files, or attachments of any kind. If you attempt to circumvent this restriction, your account may be suspended.

6. Paid team workspaces

Team workspaces are billed through Stripe. The current price is $12 per month, or $120 per year if you choose annual billing. The current price is always listed on our pricing page. You authorize us to charge the payment method you provide on a recurring basis until you cancel.

You can cancel at any time from your workspace settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial months, except where required by law. As an exception, if you cancel within 14 days of your first paid subscription period (monthly or annual), we will refund that period in full upon request. Email hello@verysimplesignups.com to request a refund.

We may change pricing with at least 30 days notice to active subscribers. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.

If a payment fails, we will retry per Stripe's standard dunning. After repeated failures, your workspace will be downgraded to the free tier and your team features will be disabled until payment is resolved.

7. Termination

You can terminate at any time. Delete your account from your settings, or email us. We will delete your account data within 30 days, subject to limited retention for legal, security, and accounting purposes (see the Privacy Policy).

We can terminate at any time, for any reason or no reason, at our sole discretion, without notice and without refund. This includes immediate termination for any violation of these Terms or the AUP, or where we reasonably believe your use of the Service poses a risk to other users, to the Service, or to us. Termination decisions are not subject to appeal.

If we terminate your account for violating these Terms, we may retain a record of the violation, including your email address and IP address, for the purpose of preventing you from creating future accounts.

8. The Service is provided as-is

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We do not warrant that emails sent through the Service will be delivered, will be delivered on time, or will not be marked as spam.

You use the Service at your own risk. You are responsible for backing up any data you need to retain.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) twenty US dollars.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Very Simple Signups LLC from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, USA, without regard to conflict of laws principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Monroe County, Indiana, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

If you are a consumer resident in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection laws, this section does not override your right to bring claims in your local courts under your local laws.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify active organizer accounts by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

14. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

These Terms, together with the AUP and Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.

You may not assign these Terms. We may assign these Terms to a successor entity (for example, if the Service is acquired).
