This Privacy Policy explains what information Very Simple Signups LLC ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using Very Simple Signups at verysimplesignups.com (the "Service"), you agree to the practices described here.
What data we collect
Organizer accounts
When you create an organizer account, we collect:
- Your email address (provided through Clerk, our authentication provider)
- Your account creation date and last sign-in date
- Your IP address at the time of account-related actions (event creation, role changes)
We do not collect your name unless you provide it in your organizer profile or event settings.
Participants
When someone signs up for an event, we collect:
- Their name (as entered in the signup form)
- Their email address
- Any optional notes they provide
- Their IP address at the time of signup
- A timestamp of when the signup was created
Participants do not create accounts. Their data is associated with their signup record only.
Usage data
We collect structured logs of key actions — event creation, signups, email sends — for operational monitoring and abuse investigation. These logs are stored in AWS CloudWatch and retained for 90 days.
How we use your data
We use the data we collect to:
- Operate the Service (storing events, processing signups, sending confirmation and reminder emails)
- Investigate abuse reports and enforce our Acceptable Use Policy
- Monitor the health and performance of the Service
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data with third parties except as described below.
Third-party processors
We rely on the following third-party services to operate. Each is a data processor acting on our behalf:

Each processor has their own privacy policy and data processing agreements.
Cookies
We use essential cookies only. These are required for organizer authentication (managed by Clerk) and password-protected event access. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies.
You will see a notice about cookies when you first visit the Service.
Email communications
We send the following emails:
- Signup confirmations — sent to participants when they sign up for an event
- Waitlist confirmations — sent when a participant joins a waitlist
- Reminders — sent before events (24 hours and 1 hour prior), if enabled
- Cancellation notices — sent when a signup is cancelled
- Organizer notifications — sent to organizers about signups and cancellations
We do not send marketing email. Every email we send is directly related to an action taken on the Service.
Participants can disable reminders when signing up, or cancel them via the link in any email.
Data retention

Your rights
Organizers may:
- Access all data associated with their account and events from the dashboard
- Delete events and signup records at any time from the dashboard
- Request deletion of their account by emailing privacy@verysimplesignups.com — we will delete your Clerk account and all associated events and signups within 30 days
Participants may:
- Cancel their signup and delete their record using the link in any email we send them
- Request deletion of their data by emailing privacy@verysimplesignups.com with the email address used to sign up — we will locate and delete their records within 30 days
If you are located in the EU or UK, you may have additional rights under GDPR or UK GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, restrict processing, or port your data. Contact us at privacy@verysimplesignups.com to exercise these rights.
GDPR and CCPA
We believe our data practices are consistent with GDPR and CCPA requirements. We collect only the data necessary to operate the Service, we do not sell data, and we honor deletion requests.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify active organizers by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The current version is always available at verysimplesignups.com/legal/privacy.
